~Dali favs~

I don't know much about surrealism but i've been reading about it lately and i'm gutted i didn't look into it sooner!!! totally what i'm into
These are my two favourite Dali paintings so far
I think i'm drawn too the painting style way more than the concept... that chiaroscuro shadowing mmmmmmm love it

~my dad in a shower cap~

what the title says really....

~woah i have a blog~

woah i have a blog, to be honest i've been really unproductive 'creatively' hmm well i passed the second year of my degree which is good!!
Christmas was a few days ago, my dad asked me to take photos at this family friends christmas party type thing and i ended up singing mandy moore on the kareoke which was kind of embarassing, got some pretty lols photos my my dad wearing a shower cap (you had to wear a hat...) i should upload some here, why not.

Here are some photos of Cool Cult i took the other day, i haven't been using my camera as much as i'd like to and felt a bit weird at first taking photos. I'm not really fully comfortable taking photos in a non-staged setting, and thinking about it today, i have a lot to learn (i'm quite new to taking photos)
I thought if i listed all the things i need to work on it be me starting to confront these things and improve (which i really need to because i'm majoring in photography next year for my design degree haha)
-the big one is documentation photography, i did sculpture in high school, not photography so i really like staged photography and still life, i kind of freak out when i have to take photos in the moment! having the right ISO, shutterspeed etc and if you don't it's too late because the moment is gone!
-working with models/people, i need to remember make sure their hands are relaxed, and also that they have room to be creative as well, i usually just treat them like objects aka just stand there and stare into space... not good
- taking photos at different angles, I find i really like front on photos cause it's within my comfort zone, i think i indulge in symmetry and the rule of thirds a little too much. Need to learn to take photos with more depth of field, with a definitive and foreground and background

Joe and I got to Queen St early(before i had to take Cool Cult Photos) and we had nothing to do so i told joe we should just walk up and down High St and i can pretend to be a fashion blogger and just take photos of him in different places. Then he had an even better idea, we would take photos of actual people on the street. He was the photographer because i'm not ballsy enough, i just pretended to write down what they were wearing on my ipod.

Today is actually new years eve (1.00am) and i'm excited, Grass Cannons playing a house party tonight- maybe i should bring my camera dun dun dunnnnn
